Welcome to Layline to LA 28
In 2028, Olympic sailing returns to Southern California. The world's best sailors will compete on the waters off Long Beach and San Pedro; waters that generations of Southern California sailors have called home.
For our sailing community, LA28 is more than a world-class sporting event. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help the athletes pursuing qualification for Team USA compete on familiar waters. Southern California has a unique opportunity, arguably a responsibility, to help build the support system these athletes need long before they reach the starting line.
Layline to LA28 is a volunteer-led, community initiative uniting yacht clubs, donors, sponsors and supporters across Southern California in support of America One Racing's Project Podium. Together, we are investing in the support system our top tier athletes need to compete with the world's best at the Olympics in 2028.
Olympic campaigns are built years before the Games begin. The athletes are preparing now. The coaching, international competition, technical development and training that take place over the next two years will determine who earns the opportunity to compete and hopefully succeed at the LA28 Olympic Games. Unlike many nations, American sailing athletes receive no government funding for their Olympic campaigns. Success depends on private philanthropy, community support and people willing to invest in excellence before the world is watching. Together, we can help provide the resources that allow these athletes to compete at their highest level.
The world will be at our back door before we know it. Let’s take action now to help our athletes be as prepared as they can be and help American sailing shine in Los Angeles.
Project Podium
Project Podium is the advanced tier of the A1R pathway and built for sailors who have demonstrated world-class potential and unwavering commitment.
